About Brown & Meyers
Brown & Meyers was founded in 1994 by Kate Meyers, a Registered Professional Court Reporter . Brown & Meyers has 25+ years of experience in the medical, legal and general transcription services business.
Brown & Meyers is a privately-owned, certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE), initially created to provide Court Reporting services with specialization in capturing and transcribing medicolegal depositions and hearings.
In 1998, seeing a need in the marketplace for medicolegal transcription, the company expanded into the medical, legal and insurance transcription sectors and has enjoyed consistent growth in these areas over the years.
Having been in business now for 25+ years, Brown & Meyers provides medical and legal transcription services to small hospitals, acute care facilities, insurance-related companies, legal and law enforcement and governmental entities nationwide.
Document scanning services are also available throughout New England, and a level one security clearance is in place.
Brown & Meyers is 100% owned and operated in the United States. This is very important as many offshore companies are claiming to provide transcription services inside the United States when they in fact are doing the first draft offshore and paying extremely low wages. This has been detrimental to U.S. companies as we cannot compete with these ridiculously low offshore rates. Many U.S. transcription companies have closed their doors, giving up the fight, and thousands of medical and legal transcription jobs have been lost to these companies. Kate is fighting now to educate CIOs about the dangers and security risks of sending this work overseas. Many of these transcribed reports contain Social Security numbers and other PI and if there is a breach, U.S. HIPAA and BAA agreements will do little to protect American companies and governmental entities. Kate, alongside her many colleagues and peers, is hopeful that this fight will bring these jobs back to American soil where, as stated in many RFPs, they legally should have been created to begin with.
Kate holds an Associate’s Degree in Court Reporting, an MBA from Babson College, and is a CompTIA Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA+), a certification that ensures critical knowledge for a career in the document imaging and document management industry.
